"A cutting edge technology that can profoundly affect and change the future of asymptomatic patients" Michael D. Cirigliano, MD FACP
"I send my patients to HeartCam because of their experience and low dose radiation." Dr. Jonathan P. Greco, M.D. - Brookhaven, PA.
"I change the mangement of my patient's care based on the results of the test. Specifically, how agressive I treat for heart disease. If positive result, I will lower all traditional risk factors"
"The negative predictive value of a calcium score is very strong. That is why I use the test."
“Hands down, HeartCam has been the easiest, most effective screening in the prevention of early heart and lung disease in our members. Many of our members who weren’t even aware they had disease are now taking positive steps to address potential life-threatening issues.” Matt Kearney - District Council 21 Health & Welfare Administrator
“I came in for a HeartCam and found out I had a high score. I am grateful I am still here. It was definitely most useful information. I’m seeing a cardiologist regularly now. I told the fella’s at the last membership meeting, "There it is (HeartCam), now go get it!” John Smolczynski - Teamster 830 Member
“This is probably the most important letter I have written or am likely to write. Let me start with a brief chronology as to why I am writing this. In 2002, my primary care physician (Jack Hocutt) recommended that I go to the Philadelphia Heart Institute and undergo a scan referred to as HeartCam. It is a non-invasive, detection and quantification of how much calcium is building up in your coronary arteries. It uses Electron Beam Tomography and takes less than ten minutes. I had a total reading of 206. The following year, the value doubled to 412. That prompted Dr. Hocutt to put me on medication to lower my blood chemistries. I also started to pay better attention to my diet. However, I did not maintain that. I guess I was relying on the medication to do the job for me.The following two years, my total calcium dropped to 380 and then to 370. My blood chemistries have been extremely low for several years. Most recently, Cholesterol was 106, Triglycerides 125, and LDL 50.The theory, of course, was that the previous build-up of calcium would be reduced. There was nothing in my numbers or symptoms that would cause me concern that I was on my way to a heart attack.Quite frankly, I went for another HeartCam evaluation the before last with a smirk on my face thinking that I was going to see the calcium reduced to near zero. That night, I received a call from Dr. Hocutt. My total calcium was going out the roof. It was over 800. He referred me to a cardiologist immediately. The cardiologist told me that the HeartCam was extremely accurate. I decided to go for a cardiac catheterization to find out what was going on. One artery was blocked 80% and another 90%. I received two stents. I was wheeled out of the O.R. at 5:30 one night and released by noon the following day. I expect to be at full activity within three or four days.Had I not had the HeartCam test, I would have found out about my blocked arteries as a result of a heart attack. As a result of my recent experience, I was asked if I would share my story to help others understand the importance of screening for heart disease with HeartCam.” John DeBenedictis - President, Tri-State 48+/55+ Senior Baseball League, LLC
"I have four grandkids, and one on the way. They are precious to me and I want to be around to enjoy them. So when my cholesterol skyrocketed to over 330, despite the fact I don’t have a history of heart disease, my Dr. recommended a HeartCam scan. I’ve been tracking my readings for three years now and the results are good. HeartCam brings me peace of mind. It also provides me with an annual incentive to keep on track with my diet, exercise and medicine program." Pastor Robert Zweitzig - Age 58
"I tend to be claustrophobic but HeartCam didn’t scare me at all. It was an open machine and the staff was terrific and very relaxing. It was so easy...and what a big relief to know my heart’s in good shape. I’m going back for a HeartCam every year. " Cynthia Pearce - Age 59 (Retired)
"I had high cholesterol and a family history of heart disease. My Dr. prescribed Pravachol. But I still worried about risk for heart attack. A concerned friend referred me to HeartCam and I took along a business partner who had experienced an episode of difficulty breathing. My results brought me immediate peace of mind. My partner’s results showed he had a high calcium score and he was immediately referred to a cardiologist. Three days later he had a successful triple by-pass. According to his cardiologist, HeartCam identified a serious problem, even though he had no symptoms." Vic Albetta - Age 56
