Message to medical professionals

Daniel Rader, MD
Medical Director, Preventive Heart Care Center

We all know that coronary artery disease is common and acute coronary events often occur suddenly in previously asymptomatic persons. Effective preventive measures, such as statins and aspirin, are available but can’t be prescribed for everyone. Because atherosclerostic plaque develops very gradually and silently over many years, the concept of detecting and measuring it at an asymptomatic stage is highly attractive as a strategy for identifying individuals at higher risk. Electron beam CT scanning reliably detects and quantifies coronary calcification, a specific marker for coronary plaque. There has been much debate about the use of this modality in clinical practice. We would like to provide qualified professionals with an information packet on HeartCam and ultrafast EBT scanning including the appropriate clinical use of this technology. Please feel free to call or email for more information or to schedule an appointment.
