Lung Cancer is the #1 Cancer Killer in the U.S. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths for both men and women. Each year, more people die from lung cancer than colon, breast and prostate cancer combined. Only 15% of lung cancer is caught in early stages-most people who have lung cancer are not diagnosed until they have symptoms. At this advanced stage, treatment is typically more difficult and less effective. While we cannot tell you for sure that early detection will save lives, the data does show that the earlier lung cancer is diagnosed, the better the chances on long term survival. Typical Lung Cancer 5 Year Survival Rate - 15%
Early Stage (1A) Lung Cancer 5 Year Survival Rate - 80%
Source: J Thorac Cardiovasc Surg 116:407, 1998 LungCam, a non-invasive scan of the lungs, can detect cancer, asbestosis, and other diseases of the lung at their earliest stages and well before a standard chest x-ray. Traditionally, chest x-rays are the most common screening method for lung disease and x-rays usually only find large tumors. In fact, only 15% of lung cancer is detected in early stages – most people with lung cancer are not diagnosed until they are symptomatic. The earlier lung cancer is diagnosed, the higher the chances of long term survival. LungCam results are interpreted by a board certified radiologist (B-reader) and are forwarded to you and your physician within two weeks.
